Episode #6 - Bass
"I'm talkin' 'bout BASS!"
Though sadly free of any discussion of fishing, the theme of “Bass” did not disappoint. There was, as predicted, some Waits, some Cohen, and a bunch of funky backbeats. And while PE didn’t make any of the lists, for me, Chuck D was presiding over it all, silently reminding us, “We’re talkin’ ‘bout BASS!”
This theme also made for some lists that, while distinct, really work well together. Binge them, I’m tellin’ ya, and you’ll see. And any order can work, but taking them in show order from Sun Ra to David Kahn is an excellent ride.
As you can maybe tell, we are feeling pretty good about this episode, and we have been learning a lot since we launched this podcast, maybe chief among them that we need a little break. So, we are marking “Bass” as the end of The Needle Exchange - Season One. Over the next couple weeks, we’ll enjoy friends, families, and holidays and take some time to reflect over these first half-dozen episodes and plot our course for a second season in the new year.
